My Iphone is my connection to everybody else. I use it for
Facebook, Twitter, E-mails, banking, calling, texting and playing games, to
name a few. So when my lecturer told us we had to give up technology for a day,
I was a bit scared to say the least. I don’t really use computers any more
unless doing college assignments or other work. My main basis of technology is
my Iphone, which I think is far harder to give up than other form of technology
for example, a desk top computer. My Iphone is everywhere I go, either in my
pocket or in my handbag. We are inseparable!
So I began my technology fast on the Sunday 29th April 2012.
In the morning it didn’t bother me too much as I was up early for work and didn’t
have time to be flicking through my Iphone. So I had a decision to make, leave
it at home. Or take it to work and hope I didn’t use it. Begrudgingly I left it
at home. So I hopped into my car, first
thing I noticed, I couldn’t plug my Iphone into the radio in my car for
music....... radio it was. It takes me half an hour to get to work and all this
time I kept glancing over to where my Iphone should be sitting, which I know I shouldn’t
be doing while driving anyway so I suppose that wasn’t so bad. I strategically
planned to give up technology on Sunday as I knew work would be busy and nobody
would be looking for me. I really missed it on my break, which is when I usually
check social media and maybe text a few people to pass the time. I couldn’t do
that either so I was left rather bored on my break and ended up cutting it
short. When I got home it was a different story, all I wanted to do was chill
out, talk to people and check out Facebook. I did stick to the technology fast
but I have to say I won’t be in a hurry to do it again. While I think
technology is taking over our lives far too much, it doesn’t stop me from using
it any less!!!
